Got my stuff together.

After purchasing my Canon EOS 7D several weeks ago for video purposes I finally bought some photo equipment to have an additional use for the camera – taking pictures! Initially I bought it just with a EF L 24mm ƒ/1:1.4 and a Canon-Nikon adapter because I had several unused Nikon lenses lying around which I planned to use for video shoots. Since Auto-Focus is not applicable in video, the lack of it when using the adapter was no big issue.

On the other hand when taking snapshots auto-focus is a big must I think. I had my 24mm lens for this but I wanted a nice zoom lens in this area. So yesterday I bought the new EF-S 17-55mm ƒ/1:2.8 wide angle zoom lens. It was about 900€ and does a wonderful job.

Canons EF-S lenses are especially made for smaller chips like the 7Ds APS-C and you can tell it. Almost no chromatic aberration, clear vivid colors and extremely sharp! In addition to the lens I bought Canons top-of-the-line flash, the Speedlite 580EX II.

And here is another shot with the EF-S wide angle zoom lens at 17mm. Pictures were graded, cut and “re-grained” with the new Adobe Lightroom 3 Beta.
